Policy

In October 2020, at the request of our reporter users, we introduced a set of Community Guidelines.  The goal of these guidelines is to keep interactions inside of Qwoted and present reporters with authentic and quality pitches and experts.  In particular, these guidelines are designed to eliminate pitching reporters’ expert source requests outside of Qwoted unless they specifically request it.

Reporters value the organization and control that Qwoted brings to sourcing expert commentary.  Check out this blog post by Qwoted’s Editor In Chief, Lou Carlozo, on why reporters enjoy using Qwoted.

As a part of enforcing these guidelines, Reporter details for each Media Opportunity / Request on Qwoted are hidden until you “unlock” the Request. Spend one of your monthly pitch credits to “unlock” the Request, reveal the Reporter’s name, and display the pitch form, where you can submit the desired commentary.

Users on Qwoted’s FREE plan have access to 2 pitch credits. per month. PRO subscribers and TEAMs subscribers have access to unlimited pitches.

Additional community guidelines:

  • Make sure to read Request details thoroughly and ensure your submitted commentary is as relevant as possible. Reporters will flag low quality or irrelevant pitches, and this negatively impacts your rating in Qwoted’s network.
  • Fill out your expert’s Source profiles completely, adding quotes, media appearances, profile photos, and employment history. This helps Reporters identify the best expert to include in their article. The more complete your profiles, the higher your score will be.
  • One login per person and a real person for every login. We’re on a mission to increase ‘authenticity’ for the media so do not share logins with colleagues and do not try to make an account accommodate more than one person. Doing this will get flagged by the system, will negatively impact your score and could result in having your account suspended.
  • Qwoted places importance in providing Reporters control over their pitch inboxes. Do not contact Media users outside of Qwoted, unless specifically requested. Contacting Media users/Reporters outside of Qwoted could negatively impact your score and result in having your account suspended.
  • Don’t unlock multiple requests without submitting a pitch. Doing this repeatedly will be interpreted by the platform as scraping data and pitching our Media users outside of Qwoted, and will eventually result in account suspension and even being shut out of the platform.
  • Do not submit commentary in Qwoted that is generated by AI content tools / LLMs. We have a zero tolerance policy towards misinformation and inauthenticity, and have AI-detection tools and moderators in place. Users providing false information will be banned from the platform.
  • Qwoted has enacted a three strike rule. If any additional violations of our Guidelines occur after two or more warnings from our team, your account may be permanently closed, subscriptions canceled/refunded, and any future signups prevented. Ultimately we are supporting a network of nearly hundreds of thousands of users, and must ensure the following of our guidelines to protect the quality of the experience for everyone involved.

Defining how Qwoted should be used helps us further our mission of helping reporters do their jobs more efficiently, and to make Qwoted a healthy and sustainable community.

Thanks for using Qwoted!
