This Privacy Policy describes what information the Qwoted app for Slack (“the app”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It supplements the Qwoted Privacy Policy that governs the Qwoted platform generally. The app is operated by Qwoted, Inc.
What the app does
The Qwoted app for Slack lets journalists search Qwoted’s public database of experts and story ideas from Slack, and submit a “Call for Experts” request that Qwoted’s team publishes on qwoted.com on their behalf.
Information we collect
1. Workspace installation data. When a workspace admin installs the app, Slack provides us the workspace (team) ID and name, the installing user’s ID, and an access token scoped to the permissions listed below. We store this in our database so the app can operate in your workspace. Our team is notified internally when a new workspace installs the app.
2. Interaction data. When you use the app – the /qwoted command, buttons, or forms — Slack sends us your Slack user ID, your workspace ID, and the content of your interaction (for example, your search text). Search queries are used to return results and appear briefly in temporary operational logs used to keep the service running; they are not used to build profiles.
3. Call for Experts submissions. When you submit the Call for Experts form, we collect the information you enter: your name, your email address, your request title and description, and your deadline, together with your Slack user ID, workspace ID, display name, and the submission time. We use this to publish your source request on Qwoted on your behalf, to associate the request with your Qwoted account (your email address is the matching key), to follow up with you about the request, and to notify you in Slack when your request is live. This information is stored in access-restricted internal records available only to authorized Qwoted team members.
Qwoted will never share your personal or professional email address. If you receive a direct pitch to your email, please forward it to reportprspam@qwoted.com.
What the app does NOT collect
The app cannot read your Slack messages, channels, or files. It has no scopes that grant access to message or channel content — it only receives what you explicitly type into the app’s own command and forms. Search results shown by the app are drawn from Qwoted’s public expert and story-idea listings. We do not sell personal information, and the app shows no advertising.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only with the service providers that run the app: Slack (messaging), Heroku/Salesforce (hosting), and Google Workspace (internal records of Call for Experts submissions), and with the Qwoted platform itself to publish your requests.
Security
All traffic between Slack and the app uses HTTPS, and every request from Slack is verified using Slack’s request signatures. Access tokens and credentials are stored in access-controlled systems and are not shared outside the operating team.
Retention, access, and deletion
Uninstalling the app from your workspace invalidates its access token for that workspace.
You may ask us at any time to (a) access a copy of the personal information the app has collected about you, (b) receive that information in a portable, machine-readable format or have it transferred to another service, or (c) delete a Call for Experts submission or any other personal information the app has collected about you. To make any of these requests, email us at support@qwoted.com from the email address you used with the app, or use the contact details below. We will verify your identity and respond within 60 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we honor those requests through the same address.
