Media Moves

D.C. Correspondent at The Independent

Previous Role: Associate Editor at The Washington Post

EG: I am going back to writing, which is great. I loved working as an editor and I believe every editor should know how to write and vice versa. But I like pounding the pavement and it’s good to be back to doing that.

EG: I think The Washington Post teaches us to be judicious and careful with facts. I value telling the truth and getting facts right so I want to continue that tradition in my role at The Independent.

EG: The most challenging, like with any journalism job, is determining what is just noise versus what is the news I think readers should know. The most rewarding is getting to report pieces that teach people how Washington actually works. If I can make someone understand something they didn’t before, that’s a good day.
