Media Moves

U.S. Writer at The Independent’s Indy100

Previous Role: Health & Wellness Writer at the Penske Media Corporation

DS:  I will be primarily covering U.S. culture, lifestyle, and digital and viral trends — but if something interesting comes my way, that won’t stop me from giving it a go! This role requires knowledge in both pop culture and social justice, which is right up my alley.

DS: Not to sound cheesy, but there’s never a dull moment! Viral content literally changes every day, so no two workdays are alike and it keeps things exciting. Plus, atop viral news, I get to write long-form features on a weekly basis. It’s really an ideal hybrid of fast-paced yet super fun internet sleuthing and good old fashioned reporting.

DS: Fast-paced deadline writing, finding sources on short time constraints, and identifying stories that will do well with a specific audience. But I think the most important skill I honed in my previous positions is writing in a fun, conversational and engaging tone while still taking the story seriously.
