Policy

In October 2020, at the request of our reporter users, we introduced a set of Community Guidelines.  The goal of these guidelines is to keep interactions inside of Qwoted and present reporters with authentic and quality pitches and experts.  In particular, these guidelines are designed to eliminate pitching reporters’ expert source requests outside of Qwoted unless they specifically request it.

Reporters value the organization and control that Qwoted brings to sourcing expert commentary.  Check out this blog post by Qwoted’s new Editor In Chief, Lou Carlozo, on why reporters enjoy using Qwoted.

As a part of enforcing the guidelines, Reporter details are now hidden until you “unlock” your pitch.  When viewing a source request, use one of your free pitches to reveal the reporter’s name and display the pitch form.

Free users will have access to 2 free pitches per month, while Pro subscribers (for individuals) and Teams subscribers (for PR teams) will have access to unlimited pitches.

Additional community guidelines:

  • Make sure to read the reporter’s requests thoroughly and ensure your pitches are as relevant as possible.  Reporters flag low quality or irrelevant pitches and this negatively impacts your rating.
  • Fill out your expert’s source profiles completely, adding quotes, media appearances, profile photos, and employment history.  This helps reporters judge the best expert to include in their article. The more complete your profiles, the higher your score will be.
  • One login per person and a real person for every login. We’re on a mission to increase ‘authenticity’ for the media so do not share logins with colleagues and do not try to make an account accommodate more than one person. Doing this will get flagged by the system, will negatively impact your score and could result in having your account suspended.
  • Qwoted places importance in providing media users control over their pitch inboxes. Do not contact reporters outside of Qwoted, unless specifically requested. Contacting reporters outside of Qwoted could negatively impact your score and result in having your account suspended.
  • Don’t unlock multiple requests without submitting a pitch. Doing this repeatedly will be interpreted by the platform as scraping data and pitching the reporters outside of Qwoted, and will eventually result in being shut out of the platform.

Defining how Qwoted should be used helps us further our mission of helping reporters do their jobs more efficiently, and to make Qwoted a healthy and sustainable community.

Thanks for using Qwoted!
